Obituary For:  John Henry Plummer, Jr.

John Henry Plummer Jr. (a.k.a. “Junie”) was born on June 21, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA. to the late John Henry Plummer Sr. and Maude Ethel Plummer. He was affectionately called “Junie” by his family and friends. Junie was educated in the Philadelphia School District where he attended Overbrook High School. He was loved and respected by his neighbors from the 49th and Hoopes Street Family. Junie was someone they could depend on in their time of need.

His employment history included Bryant Moving Company where he worked alongside his father until the business closed. He then went on to work for Charles Davis Moving and Hauling for many years and was later employed by the Ottley House until his health began to decline.

Junie was a man who loved his children and grandchildren. He would always look out for their well-being and safety. He did his best to watch over his children and teach them to be productive members of society. Although Junie practiced Islam for many, many years, he later joined the Ezekiel Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Brian D. King, Sr., where he attended bible study and church services.

Junie was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn, sons Izim and Ameen, grandson Tymir, and two brothers William (Hasan) and Calvin. He leaves to mourn his daughter Lucretia, and sons: Tyree, Tyron, Tyrone, Tysean, and a bonus son, JR. Sixteen grandchildren (with one due next month). He had one sister Pauline a.k.a. “Sissy” (Pastor Darrell Fittimon), one brother Walter, and one sister-in-law, Theresa as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and especially, his 49th and Hoopes Street Family.
