Betty Powelll

Betty Joan Powell, affectionately known as “Betty Boop,” was born in Whiteville, North Carolina on April 10, 1944 to the late Itimothy and Mary Powell. She departed this life on June 14, 2017, at home.

Betty attended Booker T. Washington School in Clarkton, North Carolina.

Betty held down numerous jobs, working as an environmental service worker at Lorraine Divine Hotel, a Childcare Provider and as a packer at Zitner's Candy Factory, which she held for forty plus years.

Betty had one brother, Howard Powell, four sisters, Pearl Butts, Clarice Graham, Sarah Lennon, and Mary Baker, whom all preceded her in death.

Betty leaves to cherish many memories:, five children: Russell Powell (deceased), Arletha Sherman (Jerry), Richard Powell (Monica), Malcolm Smith (Cynthia;Daughter-In-Law), Eddie (Adela ); two sisters: Katie Cobb (Phila), Francis Jerette of Clarkton, NC; and one sister-in-law: Grace Powell of NC.

Eleven grandchildren; Dever. Michael. Qourtise, Celina. Antonio, Chiquita, Richard Jr., Nawja, Kenyetta, Eddie Jr. Samya and five great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and family. Special Thanks to Niema Williamson
