Clara B. Williams was born October 14, 1925 to the late William H. Neal and the late Clara B. Reynolds in Philadelphia, PA.
She was educated in the Philadelphia School System and later moved to New York where she met and married the late
Thomas J. Williams. To this union were born seven children: Barton, Sondra, Catlin, Michele, Denise, Steffanie and Thelma.
In her early years Clara wanted to pursue a career as a model and a singer, with her first single called "A Man Called Joe",
but as we can see, God had other plans for her.
After her youngest child, Thelma was born ,whom she called "Monkey", Clara decided to pursue a career in nursing. She graduated
from Nursing School as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Shortly after becoming a nurse, she became Head Nurse at Hahnemann
Hospital, then Head Nurse at Graduate Hospital and Crown Nursing Home. Later she did private duty nursing at Crown until
her patient deceased.
Clara was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Ezekiel Carolina along with the late
Benjamin Smith who was Assistant Pastor until the Lord called him to Pastor his own church, Deliverance Evangelistic Church.
Clara and Thomas followed Pastor Smith where they become two of his first members. There she served on the Senior Choir,
the Chancellor Choir, Usher and Mother Board. At D.E.C. Pastor Smith licensed her as an Evangelist. Later on she attended
the Jamison H. Bible Institute where she received her Master's Degree in Theology. Clara loved serving the Lord and would
witness to everyone she could even up until her death.
Having seven children, Clara always had a house full of children. Her children, children from the church and also children
from the neighborhood. She loved cooking and would cook for almost twenty people or more. whoever slept over on Friday,
when we got up to clean they had to clean also. If we got spanked so did everyone who slept over. She treated them just like she treated her children. If you didn't want your child to be spanked, you stayed home.She was called by
other children Mom Clara, Aunt Clara or Ms. Williams. By her grands, great-grands and great-great grands our mom
was called Big-Momma, Me-Ma and Na-na. Her favorite Scripture as Psalm 91, her favorite color was lavender/
purple, her favorite hymn was "His Eyes Are On The Sparrow, and her favorite flower as yellow roses.
From 1991 to 1994 Clara was a member of the New Hope Church under Bishop Harold Faust where she called them
"her children". From 1994 to 2009 she became of member of Shabach Tabernacle of Worship under the leadership
of her son Bishop Catlin V. Williams where she served as Church Mother.. After closing his church, Clara became of
member of Prolific Praise Worship Center under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor Brian A. MIncer from 2009 until
her health failed her in June 2017.
She leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, love, and understanding to her children: Sondra, Catlin (Carolyn) ,
Michele (James), Denise (late Donald), Steffanie, and Thelma. Three foster children: Elizabeth, Rosalee and Warren.
Thirty (32) grands, eighty (80) great-grands, forty-two (42) great-great grands. a host of nieces, nephews and
one special friend/sister, Pastor Geraldine Raynor.
