Wilbert Louis Jones Sr, age 85 a lifelong resident of Atco NJ was born to the late
Loston Riley and Cora Lee Jones in Philadelphia, PA. He departed this life
March 4 rd , 2019 surrounded by his family. He obtained his education in the
Philadelphia public school system. On September 19, 1953 Wilbert married
Marcella Daniel and from that union came Linda Marie, Wilbert Louis Jr.,
Raymond, and Denise. He was a loving husband, father and a great provider for
his family.
Wilbert began his working career at Clarence Roberts Cinderblock, Conners
Masonary, and he retired from Joseph Lafferty and Sons, Local 172.
In July 1975 Wilbert accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. He became a
member and an ordained deacon at Mt Carmel Holy Church in Albion NJ, under
the Pastorate of Elder Roosevelt Coley.
In 1984, Deacon Jones, became a member of United Evangelistic Church under
the late Bishop Charles E. Williams now pastored by Elder Margie B. Geathers.
Under that administration he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board,
Sunday School Adult teacher, and worship leader. Deacon Jones was known for
his uplifting and spirit filled testimonies of how God transformed his life. You
would often hear him singing in devotional service “I really love the Lord, you
don’t know what he’s done for me, he gave me the victory.”
Deacon Jones was a faithful and dedicated member known for his wisdom and
sound judgement. One of his favorite scriptures that he often quoted was
the steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Psalms 37:23.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of 65 years Marcella,
his children, Linda Marie, Wilbert (Karen). Raymond (Julia), Denise Harrington
(Daniel), Kenny Thompson (Nikki), one brother Dr Clifford A. Jones Sr.
(Brenda), three sisters, Mary Harvey, Carmeta Fudd, Esther Bey. Six
grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, A godson, Willie James III, and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To God be the glory for the things
that he has done in the life of his servant.
