Delores Lewis, affectionately known as Dee Dee was born June 1, 1963 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Delores was the eldest daughter of the late James Bernard and Paula Delores Williams.
Delores, a distinguished honor student received her formal education in the Philadelphia Public school system where she graduated from the Murrell Dobbins Vocational High School. She continued her education at the Community College of Philadelphia, majoring in Business Administration.
Delores accepted Christ at the tender age of 12, while attending the Mount Pisgah United Holiness Church. She later joined Harris Chapel; which is currently known as Christian Fellowship Church. During that time, she was also a faithful member of the Eastern Pennsylvania District Choir. On July 26, 1986 she married the love of her life, the late Elder Mark Lewis Sr. who preceded her in death in January 2019. After marrying Elder Lewis, Delores became a member of the United Evangelistic Church under the tutelage of the Late Bishop Charles E. Williams. After the passing of Bishop Williams, she continued to serve faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Margie B. Geathers. Delores was a member of several of the United Evangelistic Church choirs, Usher Board, Sunday School Department, and Vacation Bible School. She was also a great help to the culinary department (many of us would miss her fried chicken)
Delores will also be remembered as a loving, compassionate and gentle woman, who provided hospice care for numerous family members and friends. With her God given gift of helps, she would often be found aiding or rendering assistance to others with grace in any capacity necessary.
Not only did she teach VBS, but during the summer, she could be found transporting caravans full of neighborhood children to and from the church. She was also known for providing valuable instruction to mothers on “how to properly care for their infants”, even rushing a laboring mother to the hospital, or providing free babysitting services for countless number of hours.
Delores was an exemplary mother who had an extraordinary love for children. Not only the six children and four grandchildren that God blessed her with, but for all the children in her church and in her community.
For many years, Delores was employed as the Director of Wee Love Daycare, where she had the opportunity to nurture and influence the lives of many little people.
Delores Lewis, who will be remembered as a loyal friend, sister, devoted daughter and loving wife transitioned from this life on Sunday, May 5, 2019where God, in his infinite wisdom called her from labor to rest. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Tiffany Renee, Lashae Nichole, and Destiny Cherise Lewis. Three sons: Mark Jr., Aaron Lee, and Joshua Alexander Lewis. Three granddaughters; Trinity Nichole Lewis, Madison Lue Anne Monley-Lewis, and Nori Winter Lewis, One grandson Zachariah Paul Lewis, One Brother; Jimmy Williams, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
