Denise McCoy

Denise McCoy was born on August 13, 1951 to the late Walter Lee Paige, Sr. and Silverlean Blackwell in
Philadelphia, PA. She was one of three children born to this union. She departed this life on Sunday,
February 3, 2019.
Denise attended the public schools in Philadelphia and graduated from William Penn High School for
Girls in 1969.
Denise later met Larry McCoy at “Chances Are” in 1971. They later married on October 11, 1975. To this
union two daughters were born, Leslie and Aprille. They enjoyed going to the Poconos and Atlantic City.
They were named Forever Lovers at Cove Haven in Poconos, PA.
Denise was employed at the State of Pennsylvania and lastly as a Property Manager at the Phillip Murray
House where she retired.
Denise loved her family dearly. She always promoted a family first outlook. She was THE PLANNER of
memorable trips and eventful annual Family and Friends cabarets. She enjoyed going to concerts with
Frankie Beverly at the top of the list.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching all types of television shows and going to the movies with
friends. She loved trying new recipes and foods. She was known for her signature dishes such as Banana
Pudding, Pasta Salad, Spinach Dip, Macaroni and Cheese, Kale Salad, Milky Way Cake, 7-up Cake and
Jewish Apple Cake (Larry’s Favorite).
Denise was a true friend. She was calm and generous. She was a listening ear to many that knew her
with a contagious laugh and a bright smile but wasn’t one to go back and forth with anyone. If she had
something she wanted to express, she’d let you know.
Denise leaves a legacy of love, family and friendship, and kindness.
Denise is preceded in death by one brother, Walter Lee Paige, Jr.
Denise leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Larry McCoy; her two daughters, Leslie Walton and
Aprille McCoy; her mother, Silverlean Paige; her sister, Josephine Douglas; her son-in-law, Gary Walton;
her granddaughter, Karli Walton; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
