Edward Smith, Jr.

Edward Smith Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pa to Phyllis Smith and Edward Smith, Sr. on August 7, 1969. Edward often called “Eddie” grew up in the Spring Garden Housing.

Early in life, Edward was brought up under the Christian Faith and later received Christ as an adult. Edward was educated through the Philadelphia Public School System where he received his High School Diploma. He worked for J.P. Mascaro Waste Management Co. and as a stock person for Fresh Grocer.

Edward met and fell in love with his fiancé Corinda Grant in 1997. Edward who is affectionately known as “Jay” enjoyed sports; especially football, basketball and boxing. His other favorite pastime was shopping for the latest fashion, which he proudly displayed through his clothes, matching fitted hats and sneaks. Jay had an open ear, always willing to listen and to give others heartfelt advice. Jay was a family oriented man, who loved his family unconditionally.

Edward was preceded in death by both of his parents; mother, Phyllis Smith; father, Edward Smith Sr.; both Grandmothers; Janie Adderly and Malterie Smith and his brother-in- law Sandora Grant.

Edward will be deeply missed. He leaves to cherish his many memories: his fiancé, Corinda Grant; two step daughters Corinda White and Conniesha Cooper; two step sons, Joseph Grant and Olin Cooper; 2 sisters, Jameela Smith and Alicia Smith; a brother-in- law Jesse Grant; and 5 grandchildren; two aunts, Alta Adderly and Sandy Carter; one uncle, Lawrence Smith; and a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and countless family and friends.
