Mark Lewis Sr., the eldest son of the late Elder Daniel Lee Lewis Sr. and Willa Mae Lewis began his journey in this life on September 19, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was educated in the Philadelphia public school system where he graduated from the E. Spencer Miller School. As a young student, Mark learned many valuable trades which included the fundamentals of construction in wood shop and the basic techniques and technologies involved in the printing process. However, Mark’s passion was preparing scrumptious meals and he pursued this dream by studying the culinary arts. His desire was to one day travel to France, to complete this phase of his education.
Mark was known to be a man who wore many hats and he believed in working hard to take care of his family. For over 20 years, he worked as a forklift operator at the Campbell Soup Company where he retired in 1992.
As a young man, Mark united in holy matrimony to the late Blanche Pressley Lewis and from this union were born two precious young men, Mark Lewis Jr. and Aaron Lewis.
In 1986, God sent Mark a helpmate and he was joined in holy matrimony to Delores Williams. From this union God blessed them with four more precious children, Joshua, Tiffany, LaShae and Destiny.
They realized that children are a heritage of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Happy is the man who quiver is full (Psalm 127:3; 5) Together they loved, provided for and nurtured each of the souls that God had placed into their care.
Mark was reared in a godly environment and as a child, he was raised as a Hebrew Israelite. As he approached adulthood he began to embrace Christianity. After hearing the gospel, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and began a journey which continued throughout his lifetime. Mark fellowshipped with numerousministries, however, in the year of 1984, God led him to become a member of the United Evangelistic Church under the tutelage of the late Bishop Charles E. Williams. Even after the passing of Bishop Williams, Mark continued to serve under the leadership of the current pastor and he remained faithful until the end.
Mark was loved and respected by those who had the privilege of knowing him and he will always be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a devoted husband, a loving father, brother, mentor and friend.
After many years of adverse health issues, God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to call Mark home and on Saturday January 19, 2019, he transitioned into eternity.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted wife of 32 years, Delores Lewis, his three sons; Mark Lewis Jr. Aaron Lewis, Joshua Lewis (Reonna Lewis), three daughters; TiffanyRenee Lewis, LaShae Nichole Lewis, and Destiny Cherese Lewis, one brother, Ezekiel Lewis, two sisters; Nairee Mustafaa and Faheemah Mustafaa. He also leaves to cherish his memories one grandson, Zachariah Paul Lewis, three granddaughters, Trinity Nichole Lewis, Madison Monley-Lewis and nori Lewis, one brother-in-law Jimmy Williams (Patricia Williams).
Mark’s memory will also be treasured by a host of other caring relatives which include aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his church family and special friends whose life he has impacted.
