Eldred Gordon

Eldred Juanita "Neat" Gordon was born August 31, 1949, the daughter of the late James Wilson and Frances "Mamie" Liszelle Norfleet, in Elizabeth City, NC. When she and her sister Rudean moved from Elizabeth City, NC to Green Top, DE their mother met and married Ed Norfleet. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Benjamin Banneker Middle School, and William C. Jason Comprehensive High School. Although Neat dropped out of high school in the 11th grade, she later in 1989 enrolled and attended Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus where she received an associate degree in Business Administration. Three years later DTCC called her back and asked her why they couldn't find her high school diploma or GED on file. The joke is that they allowed her to attend, complete, and earn the degree without having proof of high school graduation. In 1966 she met Sam H Gordon Jr.; on July 20, 1968, they were married by Reverend Roy C Jeffcoat, which 2 children were born of the union, Pamela G Gordon in 1976 and Sam H. Gordon III in 1979.

Neat loved being a wife and mother but most especially being a grandmother. Neat truly loved and doted on her grandchildren so much, that both Daniel and Paris refer to her as their best friend. Neat was a very loving, caring, generous, and selfless person. If you needed anything, although she perhaps had not had it to give to you, she most certainly went above and beyond to help to secure it. Neat would absolutely give you the shirt off her back if it were the only thing, she had to give you. Neat greeted everyone that she encountered with a hug, a smile, and lots of love and affection. Neat loved to talk to everyone that she encountered and could make you laugh. Neat made strangers her friends and her friends part of her family. Neat said what she meant, meant what she said, and loved with all her might. She fought her bout with cancer just as she fought any other obstacle that appeared in her life and that is with grace, integrity, dignity, and strength. The world as we know it has lost one of the best to ever do it according to her grandson Daniel while heaven gained an angel in the skies.

Proceeded in death by her parents Frances "Mamie" Norfleet and Ed Norfleet. Neat will be missed by her husband of 53 years Sam H Gordon Jr of Milford, her daughter Pamela G Gordon of Milford, and Sam H. Gordon III and his wife Suzyo Gordon of Irvine, CA. Her 4 grandsons Daniel S Brown- Gordon of Milford, DE, Barack N Johnson of Milford, DE, Obama J Johnson of Milford, DE, and Lucas G Gordon of Irvine, CA. Her 2 granddaughters Paris T Gordon of Milford, DE, and Eilyn Z Gordon of Irvine, CA. Her 2 godsons Lonnie L (Mary) Akins of Lincoln, DE, and Apostle Daniel L (Pastor Vonyett) Akins of Camden, DE.Her siblings Rudean(William) Bynum of Harrington, DE, Clara (Bernard) Hughes of BelAir, MD, Norma (Leon) Geth of Milford, DE, Richard (Lisa) Norfleet of Milton, DE, Patricia Norfleet of Bethel, DE. Her sister-in-love Anice Frances (Thomas) Pruitt of Dover, DE, and brother-in-love Jack (Terri) Wanzer of Orangeburg, SC.Her best friend Charlotte Akins of Lincoln, DE, and special cousin, friend Rose Scher of Lincoln, DE. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
