Fred Harris Jr.

Fred Douglas Harris JR. the oldest of five children was born to the late Fred and Dorothy Harris of Petersburg Virginia on January 23, 1948. Fred departed his life on January 20, 2020. Fred Preceded in death by his beloved daughter Shelina L. Harris, his grandchildren D’ana and Tyree Mitchell, one brother David L Harris and nephew Hykeeam Harris. Fred was the oldest of five children, Delores L. Harris, Jesse Harris (Carmen), and Lenore O. Harris.

Fred leaves behind his oldest son Retired SFC Fred Douglas Mitchell III (Sylvia), Kevin Douglas Harris, Keith Douglas Harris and Tyrise James Harris, six grandchildren Talitha (Michael Thomas), Jermaine D. Mitchell, Shelina Watiya-Mitchell, Wakiyah S. Harris, Keith Douglas Harris, Jr., Kevin Douglas Harris, Jr. He also had five great-grandchildren Michael Thomas, Jr., Fred M. Thomas, Miriah Thomas, Jermaine Mitchell, Jr., Jerimiah Mitchell, Laloni Mitchell, Arianna Storm Hall and a host of nieces and nephews.

Fred was educated in the Philadelphia school district graduating from Simon Gratz high School in 1966.

Fred Douglas Harris worked at The Budd Company, A Thyssen Budd Automotive Company of Philadelphia, PA from August 18, 1969 and retired February 1, 2000. Fred was a member and treasurer for Elks Quaker City Lodge #720 I.B.P.O.E. of Philadelphia, PA for over 30 years.
