Freddy Lewis was born to the late Martha Easley on February 18, 1933. Freddy (Louie), was
a nickname he was given at a young age. Louie was the only child but grew up with cousins
that became like sisters and brothers. He attended Peniel Methodist Church at a young age.
Freddy was educated in the Philadelphia Public School. After school Louie worked at various
jobs. One of them was in a retail store that sold men and women’s clothes. While employed
there he learned how to sew men and women’s clothes.
If his cousin, Selma’s clothes were torn or needed hemming, Louie would tell his Aunt Bea,
that he could fix them. Freddie (Louie) loved all movies and from this love he could name the
actresses, actors, and also named the roles they played. “God” gave him a gift to be able to
express his artistic talent to paint and draw beautiful colorful African art. His room is like an art
gallery. Also he has sold some of his paintings and they were on display at the Convention
Center. In later years as he became older, Freddie was employed at the Lutheran Nursing
Home in the maintenance department where he worked many years until retirement.
Freddie (Louie) is survived by his cousins, nephews and friends.
