Gwendolyn Williamson

July 16, 1961 — November 26, 2018

...Our beloved sister, aunt, and loved one, Gwendolyn Denise Williamson, was born on July 16, 1961 in Milford, Delaware to the late Landy Sr. and Fannie Mae Williamson. She transitioned peaceably from labor to reward on November 26, 2018 at the age of 57.
Gwen or Gwennie, as she was affectionately called, received her education at Howard T. Ennis, graduating in 1981. After graduating, she served as a dedicated member of Kent Sussex Industries for nearly 3o years, where she was contracted to perform production work at DuPont, Maryland Plastics, Proctor and Gamble, and lastly, Kraft before retiring. She received a number of awards and accolades during her employment, including being featured in KSI’s annual calendar and Employee of the Quarter several times during her tenure. After retiring from KSI in 2014, Gwen attended Easter Seals until her health began to fail. Gwen was a devoted member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for more than 30 years, under the leadership of the late Reverend Bennie Hickman and Reverend Woodrow Evans. Gwen would be found every Sunday in her favorite seat, next to her mom or near her aunt Josephine Benton. She later became a member of Power In Praise Ministries, Inc. under the leadership of her nephew, Bishop C.D. Cannon, Sr., where she found her a new “favorite seat” until her passing. To know her was to know she hated to miss work and she hated to miss church! She was known to get dressed for work on her day off or to be home enjoying Gospel music and writing out scriptures in her notebooks. Gwen enjoyed watching TV, especially game shows, and completing word search puzzles. More than anything else, Gwen loved spending time with her family. Whether out bowling or home barbequing, Gwen enjoyed family events and outings and she always said the prayer at family dinners. She was known for getting with two generations of nieces and nephews when they were out of line, but she was also known for spoiling them and sneaking them snacks when she thought no one was watching! Gwen was never treated differently so she never acted as if she was different. When she felt someone was unhappy or discouraged, she was always ready to have a word of prayer and she was always giving hugs. Gwen had a heart of gold and she was always wearing a smile, showing love to everyone who crossed her path. She lived a full life and was very well loved, but Gwen demonstrated some of the truest and purest love many of us have ever seen, even as her health began to fail.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Landy Jr. and her nephew Landy III. She leaves to celebrate her life and memory: two sisters: Darlene (Reginald) McRae of Dover, Delaware and Diane Patterson of Felton, Delaware; three aunts: Catherine Hicks of Aiken, South Carolina, Francis Simmons of Troy, New York, and Arlene Shine of Pahokee, Florida; eleven nieces and nephews: Jesse, LeFeisha (Carlos Sr.), Demetria, Aaron, Latoya, Quintella, Clishona, Lionel, Lavaris, and Natosha; 21 great nieces and nephews; a special great niece and a great nephew who helped care for her: Nariel and Jazmere; one nephew by love: Joel; a cousin who was like her brother: David (Sherrill) Williamson; and a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.
