Horace Day

August 19, 1941 — October 29, 2020

Horace George Miller Day was born in Philadelphia and passed away on October 29, 2020 after a short illness at the age of 79. He was educated in the Philadelphia public school system where he met his long time love Sheila who he married on December 4, 1965 and the union welcomed two children.
He was drafted into the Vietnam War and continued his career in the military until retiring as a 1st Sergeant in the Army Reserves. Over the years Horace, held positions that touted his love of working with his hands and was employed for several companies including S.K.F., The Navy Yard, and Septa from which he retired.
You could find Horace on any given weekend sitting on the porch listening to music and sipping E&J. His love for music was evident as he would share with anyone who listened his eclectic taste and versatility. One of his favorite artists was Nina Simone who has many treasured classics that left a legacy in the music world, just as Horace has done with all who knew him.
Horace is survived by his wife Sheila, son Robert, Daughter Tiffany, sister Geneva and many nieces, nephews, military family and beloved friends. To honor his wishes a service will not be held at this time. A celebration of his life, love and legacy will be planned at a future time.

Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
