Ira Germaine Abston, 58, of Philadelphia, passed away on November 5, 2019 in Philadelphia,PA.
Ira was born Mobile, Alabama to Clarence Abston and Claudine Jones on February 23, 1961. Ira was educated in the Philadelphia School System, graduating from Olney High School. She continued her education at Fayetteville State University obtaining her associates degree. Ira was gainfully employed, she worked for the Naval Depot for two years while in high school and later for the Internal Revenue Service for 29 years after which she retired.
Ira was affectionately known as “Aunt Germaine.” She enjoyed cooking, baking and shopping. Ira was the glue for the family after mom passed away. Ira always thought of everyone in the family, as well as friends. When the holidays came that was the time to gather around Ira's house, yes, that was the best. We got to see people we hadn't seen in a long time, and let's not forget about the food she made for everyone to enjoy, and we all loved her for that. She would tell us, “see you later, bye bye now get out”.
Though Ira never had any children of her own, she considered her nieces and nephews her children. Ira was preceded in death by her mother Claudine Roberts; father Clarence Abston and sister Linda Abston.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Teddy Jones ,Jonathan Roberts ,Kim Roberts & Ovetta Roberts; nephews :Cecil Abston ,Tony Roberts, Anthony Ray, Denzel DelValle, Donte Purifoy and Jonathan Scott Roberts II; nieces Danielle Roberts and Ava Claudine Roberts; great-nephews:Joshua Abston, Preston Daniels and Jeremiah Roberts; great-niece Jannah Daniels; two sister-in-law's: Barbara Jones and Angela Roberts , a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
