Life Reflections of James Smith

James C. Smith, affectionally known as “Claude”, was born June 22, 1942 to Joseph and Ruth Berry in Scotland Neck, North Carolina.

He departed this life on January 30, 2021.

James received his education in the North Carolina Public School System. He later moved to Philadelphia where he met and married Mary Harrison and from this union, five (5) children were born.

James work life was in the construction field. He was employed and retired from Allen Brothers Construction Company.

James enjoyed music. He loved the oldies but goodies sound. He also enjoyed watching Western shows. He truly loved spending time with his grand-children and great-grand-children, which was the highlight of his life.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ruth, his son, Michael Smith, his daughter, Sharon Renee Smith, and his grandson, Byron Story.

James leaves to cherish in his memories: his children, Saundra Smith, Sheila Smith, and Cynthia Henderson; one son-n-law, Eric Henderson; his grand-children, Kailief, Mikeal, Darius, Cherrelle, Channell, Monique, Darien, Faheem, Chantel, and Mariah; his great grand-children, Morgan, Hanyah,

Ariana, and Nova; Extended Family: life partner, Deborah Sawyer; daughters, Shavonda Sawyer and Nicole Sawyer; grandchildren, Ryedel Barnes, Rashida Barnes, and Nijaya Sawyer.
