Janet Delores Smith was born to the late Geneva Applewhite in Enfield North Carolina on August 10, 1932. Janet attended school in North Carolina until she was 16 years old. Janet moved to Philadelphia, PA and resumed her education attending William Penn High School. Janet served as a Teacher’s Assistant the Philadelphia Board of Education and maintence worker for ABM, she enjoyed her tenure at the M. Hall Stanton Elementary School until her retirement in 1996. Janet loved her children, grand children and great grand children and of course her one and only daughter Cynthia. Janet was known to be brutally honest, her opinion and advice always came from a warm place but if you could not handle the truth you need not ask Janet. Never a sugar coater, Janet was always honest, straight forward and truthful. She was truly old school. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, long walks, traveling and socializating. Janet knew she was homeward bound and she was not afraid to take her victory walk early on the afternoon of Sunday December 29, 2019 she peacefully entered the gates of heaven. Janet is preceded in heaven by her son Louis A. Smith, she leaves to rejoice in her victory one daughter Cynthia Smith-Webb, one grand daughter Shavon Smith, two grand sons Damon and Andrew Webb, two great grand sons Aysr and Symeer Webb many other family members neighbors and friends many friends in the 2300 block of North Fawn Street long time Co-workers and family.
