Karen Rena Ross born on November 6, 1964, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Moses Robert Ross and Ella Mae Ross. Karen was baptized on March 11, 1973, by the late Reverend William Glenn. Karen was educated in the Philadelphia School District, attending Frankford High School and ultimately getting her General Education Diploma in 1982. She also attended the Community College of Philadelphia majoring in English. To round out her education she attended an entrepreneurial program, graduating in 1994 with a business license.
In 1987, Karen met the love of her life, Adrian Sills. They married in June of 1988 and a year later in 1989 had their first child Adrian Sills II. They were blessed again in 2003 with a daughter Aliyah Jenay Sills.
Karen started working at Gimbels in the early 1980’s. This job was the start of her meeting and maintaining numerous long-lasting friendships. While working at Gimbels she met one of her best friends Tammy. They have been friends for over 30 years. Karen also held positions in the banking industry, post office and most importantly the airline industry. She started working at AirTran in August 2001 and stayed during the transition to Southwest Airlines. Her AirTran/Southwest co-workers became her extended family. She enjoyed working there and seeing them daily. As a Customer Service Supervisor, she had the opportunity to interact with numerous people which was great for her because she loved to get to know people by talking to them.
Karen was such a great spirit. She made so many sacrifices to make sure her family was always taken care of. She has resigned from a couple of positions to be her mother’s full-time caretaker when she was ill. She would take in any family member that needed help simply because it was the right thing to do. Karen was a compassionate and caring person through and through.
Karen loved music, going to concerts and people but her family was her entire world, especially her husband and children.
Karen leaves behind her beloved husband Adrian Sills, Adrian Sills II (son), Aliyah Sills (daughter), Ella Mae Ross (mother), Carolyn Ross (sister) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
