Major “Junior” Hicks passed in peace on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the age of 81 from natural causes.
He was born to the late Ollie Filmore and Major Hicks on September 14, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his cherished companion Betty Rayford, his Mother and Father, and his siblings Lorraine, Margaret, Sylvester, Thelma and Shirley.
Survived by children, grand-children, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Major Hicks, will be fondly remembered as a “Gentle Giant.” Giant because he stood nearly 6 feet 4 inches tall. Gentle because he helped raise many children, including the children and grandchildren of his cherished companion, and the children and grandchildren of his siblings. He will be remembered by his family and friends as “the life of the party!” Named after his father, his family called him “Junior” and at times, he called himself: “Major, Junior, Simmey, Paul, Alexander, Tall Weave, Shoot Em Up, Bang Bang Hicks.”
