Marilyn La’Vonne Heath Bowe, affectionately known as ‘Vonnie’, was born on February 12, 1961, to Cynthia P. Heath and James Oliver Seth in Easton, MD. Carlyle Wilkerson, better known as “Stoney” is who Vonnie considered to be her Step-Father and who helped raise her.
At a very early age, Vonnie migrated to Smyrna, DE, with her mother; were she was raised by her maternal grandmother Alice Heath. Vonnie had a rich Christian upbringing and was raised in a Christian home. Vonnie’s Uncle Jackson & Aunt Anna Heath also made major contributions to her rearing as a youth. Vonnie departed this life suddenly on Thursday, November 21, 2019, after a long illness.
Vonnie attended Delaware Public Schools, including Smyrna High School, where she excelled in sports activities. Her greatest passion was basketball, reading and playing cards with family & friends. Vonnie had a sweet, cheerful, humble and authentic spirit. She loved reading assembling puzzles and family time. She will be remembered for her warm heart, infectious smile and the love she had for her Grandchildren whom she adored. She was most proud of her children and Grandchildren.
Vonnie’s first job was with General Clothing in Smyrna as a clerical worker. Soon after, she joined the US Army Reserves, as a supply clerk, where she served for approximately two years. After her service and while visiting her Cousin in Ft. Hood TX, she met and fell in love with Lou Ellis Bowe (Lou). Lou was active duty at the time in the Army at Ft. Hood, TX. Lou & Vonnie returned to DE as a couple in 1984, after Lou’s tenure in the Military. She worked for Wendy’s as a Crew member and ultimately worked her way up to a General Manager. Vonnie worked for Wendy’s for approximately 14 years.
Vonnie married Lou on July 4, 1992, in Dover, DE, from this union Three Children were born. With Three Children of their own, they also raised One Niece (Sharonda) and Two Nephews (Jamil & Andre). Vonnie gave herself to Christ in at Kingdom Vision Church-Dover DE in 2017. They were married until her transition on November 21, 2019.
Vonnie leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband of Twenty-Seven years, Lou Ellis Bowe; Two Daughters, Asia Heath, (Felton); Ca’sha Waters (Derrick), Magnolia, DE; Da’von Heath, Dover, DE; Three Step-Children, Andre Heath, Dover, DE, Jamil Heath, Dover, DE; Sharonda, Heath, Salem, NJ; One Sister Carla Heath, Wilmington, DE; Three Half-Sisters, Aleta Cooper (Thomas) Rigley, MD; Rosalind Wilmer (Tyrone), Federalsburg, MD; Lachelle Wise (Cecil) Preston, MD; Two God-sons Anthony Moore, Jr., Milford, DE; & James Dixon, Jr. Smyrna, DE; Twenty Two Grandchildren; Two sister-in-law’s, Joan L. Haynesworth, Waldorf, MD; Rose Bowe, MD; Seven Brother-In Laws, Theodis Bowe (Lena) Millsboro, DE; Joseph E. Bowe (Donna), Bowie, MD; Everett E. Bowe (Paulette), Dover, DE; Larry D. Bowe (Felicia), Lincoln, DE; Lynnwood Bowe (Janet), Felton, DE; and Jacques Bowe (Brenda), Lincoln, DE; A Very Good Friend Donna C. Smith and a host of Aunts, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, Friends & Family. Both of her Parents, Grandmother, Uncle & Aunt with One sister have perceived her in death
