On February 18, 2019 the beloved son of Sherman and Dorothy (Brown) Ancrum, Marquan
Diondre Tyrone Ancrum, (age 24) of Philadelphia, PA, heard the Master’s call, calling him
home to eternal rest, as told to us by Jesus in John 14:2-3, In my Father’s house are many
mansion, I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am you will be also. Marquan was born
January 17, 1995 in Woodbridge, Virginia. He dedicated his life to Christ as a member of Loving
Memorial Pentecostal Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Rudyne L. Sherfield and
continued to serve faithfully under his current Pastor James C. Harrington, Sr. Amongst his
many talents and interests.
Marquan had a sincere passion for the house of God and God’s people, his legacy will forever
be, may the work I’ve done speak for me. He faithfully served in the church doing whatever
tasked he was asked to do, he cleaned the church weekly, participate in morning worship, read
scripture, and collected tithes and offering. He embraced the scripture Philippians 4:13 “I can do
all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Upon graduating from Freire Charter School in
2013 Marquan attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington and Cape Fear Community
College in Wilmington, North Carolina. He also attended Community College of Philadelphia
and Pierce College of Philadelphia.
Marquan was employed with the School District of Philadelphia and also the owner of his own
cleaning business. He enjoyed all sports but loved playing basketball, he was a special young
man in every way, known for being a great listener with words of encouragement, no matter the
situation. He will always be remembered for his big beautiful smile, sense of humor, and
kindness. He was a comedian who brought peace through laughter. He was tender-hearted,
passionate, loving, and charitable. He loved all people and enjoyed making memories with his
family. Marquan was a young man with many talents who aspired to be the best at anything he
set his mind to.
Marquan’s memory will forever be cherished by those whom he leaves to morn. His loving
parents, Sherman and Dorothy Ancrum; his sisters Shermeka Ancrum and Shermya Ancrum; his
brothers Antwione D. Howard, Sherman T. Ancrum, and Demondre Ancrum. He also leaves to
morn his maternal grandmother Dale Brown; paternal grandparents Sherman Ancrum, Sr. and
Nancy Ancrum; two nieces (Sophia, Sanyia) as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and
friends.
