Mary Masera

Mary (Kahendeke) Masera was born on July 27,1942 to the late Aliseni Nambasi and Elizabeth Namweru, Buyobo, Sironko District, Uganda. Mary was first born of Elizabeth Namweru.

She completed her education at Bugunzu Primary School, Budadiri Girls and Nyondo Secondary School. She then attended Jinja Nursing School where she graduated as an Enrolled Nurse. She worked at Jinja, Gulu and Kapuchora Hospitals. In 1969 she decided to go to Mbarara to train as a Health visitor. After completing the course she came and worked in the then Bugisu District as Health Visting Nurse, Mwana Mugimu program. In 1970 she decided to go to Mulago Nursing School where she graduated as Registered Nurse in 1973. She worked as an R.N. at Mulago, Jinja and Mbale Hospitals. In 1985 she fell ill and had to leave nursing.

In 1989 Mary came to the USA to get treatment and by 1991 she was feeling better. She got her CNA License and started working as a Home Care Giver until 2010 when she fell ill and had to have surgery. After surgery she was unable to work again.

Mary met her husband Mr. Misuswera Masera while she was at Mulago Nursing School. They got married in 1972.

On Saturday January 12, 2019 Mary was called home by the Lord for eternal life. She fought a hard fight for her life. She was blessed with eight children: Moses Nambasi, Kadijjah Wegosasa, Tom Nazeba, Agnes Nambuya, Simon Wodidi, Nicholas Nashimolo, Nora Nafuna and Michael Gidudu. Moses and Kadijjah preceded her. She leaves behind six children, Sixteen grandchildren, nine brothers, two sisters and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. Mary was loved by everyone and she will be dearly missed.
