Michael Carter

October 21, 1998 — June 12, 2020

Michael was born on October 21, 1998 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mike as we affectionately called him, departed this life on Friday, June 12, 2020 due to an accidental death in Ft. Carson Colorado. He was the son of Barbara Ann Carter and Stepson of Terrance Fischer.

Mike was raised up in Dauphin Street Baptist Church where he became a strong young man under the influence of his Grandparents Leida & Robert Williams and his Godparents Pastor Mariam Keith and Reverend Pamela Fletcher Keith. Everyone at Dauphin Street loved him dearly and helped to raise Michael into the man he became.

Mike was a people person, he enjoyed family gatherings and helping and inspiring others to be all that they can be. Mike enjoyed food were ever there was good food he was sure coming to eat. Let us not forget how competitive he was on his play station, basketball, rugby, and life. He really enjoyed playing his video games with his friends and family. He would talk a lot of trash to whomever he was playing with at the time. Mike also enjoyed dancing, but he was very unsuccessful with that.

Michael received his High School Diploma from the Philadelphia Military Academy in June 2018. While in PMA he played basketball his freshman year to his sophomore year. He also played rugby during his sophomore year to his senior year with the Nomads. He even helped with the directing of “The Nomads Movie” which was voted number one in the Philadelphia Film Festival. During Mike senior year of High School, he decided he wanted to join the military and was extremely happy when the Army called him to report for duty on April 9, 2019, UNTIL BOOT CAMP HAPPENED .Due to his determination, leadership and outstanding achievements Mike was promoted to Private First-Class Carter in one year of joining the military.

PFC Carter served the Army as a 15P Aviation Operations Specialist in the Headquarters & Headquarters Company Team, 3-4 Assault Helicopter Battalion. Carter completed his Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training in Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to Fort Carson in Colorado. He was deployed on October 2019 in support of Joint Readiness Training Center Rotation 20-01. PFC Carter’s award include: The Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Marksmanship badge for rifles.
