Michael Lyons

Michael Anthony Lyons, affectionately known as “Mike” to was born on December 25,1962 in Philadelphia, PA to the Late Dwight G. Jones & Flora Mae Robinson. He was raised by Earl Robinson who also preceded him in death. Michael came from a large , yet blended family with 6 sisters and 5 brothers. “Mike” attended the Philadelphia Public School System graduating from Simon Gratz High.

Through out his childhood “Mike” spent time living with his aunts and uncles which allowed him to become a point of communication for the entire family.

After graduation “Mike” began picking up a variety of trades. “Mike” was employed as a cashier with the McDonald’s Corporation for many years. After which, he began a career job as a cutter with Newman & Company. After several years with the company Mike advanced and became the foreman of his department. He remained employed with Newman & Company for over 20 years retiring in 2018.

Michael was a proud father of all four of his children: Jamie, Sierra, Candice & Michael A Lyons Jr

In 1996 Diane and Michael were united in Holy Matrimony. Mike and Diane were a fun loving couple and enjoyed entertaining family. Mike was a devoted husband and they had a loving marriage until Diane passed in 2010.

Michael was a man of principles and pride; he was driven by his sense of responsibility to his family. He was an enthusiastic Fisherman who loved deep-sea fishing and having a good Laugh. Mike was family oriented and enjoyed being surrounded by his loved ones. He was resilient in every aspect of his life including being a Father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and Grandfather. Mike remained dedicated and available to his entire family while battling his cancer “because that was his passion”. Throughout his journey in life Michael made it a point to minimize complaints and accept the things that he could not change, while placing emphasis on the things that he could change.

Michael remained a brave and iron-willed man until the very end. After a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family Michael was called home on November 23, 2018 at 55 years old.

He was preceded in death by his Wife Diane Watkins Lyons;Mother Flora Mae Robinson, (Father) Whit G Jones, (Father) Earl Robinson and Aunt Leatta Lyons.

Mike Leaves to cherish his memory his 5 children: Jamie Lyons, Michael Lyons , Sierra Herlihy ,Candice Lyons and Nyeesha Segers. (8)Grandchildren: Rakera & Enrique Stewart, Erica, Raekwon & Rachael Lyons, Michael Lyons III, Mackenzie and Michael Segers, sisters: Shelia Robinson, Capicina Bannister ,Adina Jones, Deneen Bannister, Gail Fletcher, Jacqueline Turner, Brothers: Milton Robinson, Earl Fletcher, Michael Fletcher, Allen “Page” Fletcher, Darren Jones. Mother in law: Dorothy Watkins, A host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
