Our mother and loved one, Pettera Owens, now rests in the loving arms of Our Lord. Pettera the youngest daughter gained the name "Lil Sis" in which she was affectionally called by her family and friends. Pettera departed this life peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, who she loved dearly, Otheni Owens.
Pettera was born on August 11, 1963 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Otis and Marjorie Clark. Pettera received her education from the Philadelphia Public School System. She furthered her education and received her Certified Nursing Assistance certificate and began working at Stapley Senior Citizens home. Her journey through life brought her to another career as a security officer working for Allied Universal at Temple University Hospital While working at Temple Hospital she greeted people with an unforgettable smile. She did not hesitate to pray for her family, coworkers, or people she never even knew.
Pettera was a loving mother who was dedicated to making sure her children and grandchildren were taken care of. She was extremely supportive to everyone who knew her. But one thing about "Lil Sis" is she kept it real with you. She would tell you about you and your situation with no sugar coating. You would think this would push people away but this is actually what drew people to her and made you love her. This is what also made her feel like a second mother, an aunt, and a sister to soooo many people.
Pettera enjoyed dancing and having a good time. What she enjoyed most was studying the Word of God and praying. Man oh man could she pray! She loved to pray. She was a prayer partner to many.
Pettera joined New Mt Zion Pentecostal COGIC under the leadership of Bishop William Chancy where she and her husband were devoted members. Her journey with the Lord took her to The Baptist Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Millicent Hunter, where she became a missionary and a greeter.
Pettera leaves to cherish her memory her children Pettera Clark (Joey), Rasheed Clark (Natasha), and Khary Clark. She also leaves five sisters; Ruby Clark, Theresa Clark, Molly Clark, Diane Hayes (Mickey), Gloria West (David), one brother; Daddy-O Clark; eight grandchildren, Tanyra, Rasheed Jr., SaaNylah,, Khary, Kamal, Amani, Joey Jr., Brielle, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
