Rita Haliburton

Rita Green-Haliburton, the eldest of five children, was born 7:30am Wednesday August 10,1954 at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA to her loving parents, Sara Phinizee and Edward Green (deceased).  She passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2019.

Rita was educated at Saint Charles elementary school  and Overbook high school. She then furthered her education at Hussian College of Art earning an Associate's degree in Art. Thereafter she began her career as an elementary school teacher for the Archdiocese (Our Lady of Victory and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament) and with 25 years of service she retired.

Rita devoted her life to God and was baptized/confirmed in the Catholic faith. Rita's love of education and art began at an early age and lasted throughout her life. After her retirement she began her journey to further her education in Hope's of receiving a B.A. in Art History. She completed a two-year program at Community College earning another Associate degree in art. Despite her ailments, setbacks,& diagnosis of stage four cancer she was only one semester short from receiving her degree. It doesn't end there, staff members on the board from Tyler School of Art have decided to pick up where she left off by working towards getting Rita her honorary B.A. in Art History Posthumous Degree. THE MARATHON CONTINUES.

Rita met and fell in love with Edward Haliburton in 1972, a love that would last over forty years.  They married officially on April 15, 1984. Within this eternal union they had three children.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving and devoted husband Edward J. Haliburton, her loving mother Sara Lambert, her daughters Chi Kiona (Gabby), her son Edward, her sister Edwina Green, her brothers Edward, John, and Steven Green, her grandchildren Chania, Keith,& Chyanne. A host of nieces,nephews, family and friends.
