The Obituary
Sharon Arnetta Choice, affectionately known as Cookie, a nickname given by her Aunt Shirlee was born on June 30, 1954 to the late Albert Choice and Dorothy Choice at Philadelphia General Hospital, in Philadelphia, PA. Sharon was educated in the Philadelphia School District and graduated from Olney High School in 1971.
A few years after graduating from high school Sharon accepted a position at PNC Bank in Philadelphia, PA, where she worked for 45 years, during which time she was promoted to several administrative positions. Her last position was Senior Client Solution Specialist at PNC Wealth Management.
At an early age, Sharon (Cookie) accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized by the late Rev. Harold O. Davis at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1974, she moved her membership to Harold O. Davis Memorial Baptist Church. Always willing to serve, Cookie was Administrative Assistant to the late Bishop Kermit L. Newkirk for many years. Standing firm in her faith Sharon wore many hats – most notable, she was a member of the Hospitality Club, the Pastor’s Travel Guild, and served as Wedding Coordinator.
On February 18, 1975, the Lord blessed Sharon with her only child, a beautiful baby girl and the joy of her life, Dana Choice, who preceded her in death on September 27,2006, leaving a little daughter, Jasmine. With her fierce love for family and undying love for her child and grandchild, Sharon immediately stepped in and raised her granddaughter. You see, even in grief, Cookie’s love shined through – because that’s who she was – full of faith, love, understanding and an ever-willing heart to help others. That’s what love does – it stands tall even during adversity and grief. When life dealt Sharon lemons - Cookie knew how to make lemonade!
Sharon enjoyed shopping, and even when she was sick – she still graced the stores with her presence! She also enjoyed travel – especially relaxing on the beach, dining in fine restaurants and spending time with family. For Cookie – truly FAMILY MATTERS! She was a woman of style and class, never a hair out of place! and her relationship with her hairstylist and friend Dannean meant the world to her. They developed and enjoyed a wonderful friendship for many years.
Sharon (Cookie) truly had a heart of gold and a caring and thoughtful spirit. She never hesitated to make a phone call or send a card to let friends and family know she was thinking of them. She also found joy in offering support and a listening ear to those she loved. Sharon was strong-willed, but gentle, always grounded in the truth of God’s word, and always reminded everyone that, “God got me.” Even in sickness, her faith never wavered. Sharon spoke with wisdom and faithful instruction. She was a great example of a virtuous woman – clothed with strength and dignity, always abounding in the word of the Lord!
On Saturday, October 5, 2019, Sharon Arnetta Choice exited time and entered eternity. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: granddaughter, Jasmine ; sister, Robin and brother Albert Campbell; nephew, Kenneth and niece, Ashley; fiancé, Darrell Price; special cousins, Terry Butler and Leslie Brockington; four aunts, Thelma Upshur, Margaret Oliphant, Shirley Brockington, Aunt Gloria (William Ames) two uncles, Sammie and Robert Choice; best friend, Kathy Mills; godchildren, Alphonso Campbell and Ashley Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
