Steven C. Crockett entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was affectionately
known as “Crock”.
Steven was born April 27, 1971 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Robert Crockett
and Essie H. Crockett. He was youngest of three sons.
Steven was a member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church under the ministry of Reverend
Frederick L. Bowers, III. He was baptized at Greater Ebenezer and was honored to have his
name on one of the church windows. Steven received his education in the Philadelphia Public
Schools and graduated from Northeast High in 1989. He furthered his education at Virginia
Union University. Steven is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
In July 2001 he married Tamara C. Mingo, his college sweetheart. Steven was a devoted father
and loved his girls, Austyn C. Mingo – Crockett, a student at Hampton University and Logen S.
Mingo – Crockett, both honor students.
Steven, a vivacious and charismatic person, loved working out and was an avid fan of the
Philadelphia Eagles just like his parents. Steven was currently employed at Samuel & Son
Seafood as a fish cutter. Steven loved physical fitness and was training to be a professional
physical fitness trainer. He also loved photography and pursued a career in photography.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Austyn C. Mingo-Crockett, Logen S. Mingo-
Crockett. His mother, Mrs. Essie H. Crockett; two brothers Anthony Crockett, all of Philadelphia
and Richard Leon Crockett (Amanda) of Chesterfield, MI., and a sister, Frances Katrice Gay of
Philadelphia. Extended family members are Tamara Mingo-Crockett and god-mother, Mrs.
Almetta Mack and a special friend, Syreeta Eldridge; an uncle Mr. Fred Harmon of Columbus,
GA, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
