Sutalia George

SUTALIA GEORGE was born March 22, 1935, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The daughter of the late James Stitt and Jelilah Mae Littlejohn. She departed this life on May 28, 2020 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Sutalia, lovingly called, “Sister George” was baptized at an early age in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her education from Second Ward High School in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County.

Sutalia met and married Curtis George. To this union, three children were born: Curtis, Jr., Wanda, and Bernadette.

Sutalia loved to serve in her church, Devereux Memorial United Methodist Church, and her community. She was loved by many church friends and neighbors. She had a “smile” for everyone she met. She never “met a stranger!” She also had a love for organizing many event “firsts” which were enjoyed by many who recognized her love and compassion shown in every endeavor she encountered. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was the “go-to person” for many who appreciated her loyalty and gift of service.

Sutalia was preceded in death by her parents, James Stitt and Jelilah Mae Littlejohn, her husband, Curtis L. George, Sr., and two sisters: Ethel Jones and Patricia Stitt.

Sutalia leaves to cherish a brother, James Stitt, Jr. of New York, a son, Curtis L. George, Jr. of Oklahoma, two daughters: Wanda George-McBride (Jeffrey) of Maryland, Bernadette Goodman (Christopher) of Pennsylvania. Seven grandchildren: Christopher, Cory, India, Devon, Andrea, DaVita, Karys, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
